Project: Rebranding for African Extract Rooibos
I was required to do a rebranding for a South African brand of my choice and I have decided to do it for a skincare brand called African Extract Rooibos. This brand makes all of its products from the Rooibos plant, which fascinated me and inspired me to learn more about it and to celebrate the importance of these plants. Their products are affordable and they produce products for all skin types – from teenagers starting out with their skincare routines to anti-ageing products for more mature skin.
My work appreciates the indigenous plant, Rooibos, that grows naturally in the Cederberg mountains in the Western Cape. I have created a contemporary and an organic style logo with a simple yet elegant serif typeface, Evafiya. The logo features a Rooibos plant and leaves creating a silhouette of the African continent. I have interwined them to celebrate one of the best indigenous plants in African. As Rooibos grows naturally in The Cederberg Mountains,Western Cape, I have tried to incorporate the roots of the plant starting from Western Cape going outwards to show how Rooibos is as important to other parts of Africa. The colours are inspired by the Rooibos plant. The colour red, reddish brown, green and yellow are all used in the logo, I have also changed the tone of each colour to create a similar yet different light and darker colour.
